It's our largest and most ambitious project to date and Aaron, Chris and I are really proud of it. I'm adding this update after the holidays but I think you will all agree, it's a modern classic that can be enjoyed all year round.
As of today the new episodes are available. You can find Season 3 on iTunes, Amazon Video, Google Play and DVD from Wolfe Video. I laughed and cried watching the very funny and very sweet first episode just minutes ago...looking forward to tearing through the whole season tonight. You can spot me in the final episode, East of Eden also featuring Wison Cruz!
Fun fact: I shot this scene at the front desk of one of my absolute favorite places The Modern Hotel in Boise while I was there doing Hedwig last year.
We were so busy getting the 2Scoops: Legally Oblig8ted together I forgot to post THIS. Time Out New York printed this VERY, VERY LARGE feature of 2Scoops in the comedy section of their September. This is Aaron Fuksa and I pretending to not want attention on the N train on our way to soundcheck.
EASTSIDERS Season 3 is coming out on November 28th! You can spot me as Jesse in the final episode East of Eden also featuring Wilson Cruz. I can't wait to see it!
I flew back to Boise past weekend to host their yearly gala and give a sneak peak preview of GBGD. It was SO MUCH FUN. I also got to see a lot of friends I made during Hedwig last year and reunite with the AWESOME musicians who played the Angry Inch. We ended the night with a quick change and a surprise visit from Hedwig and the band.
THE ANGRY INCH! Melanie Radford (Bass) Tracy Sunderland (Director) Tess Worstell (Yitzhak) Thomas Paul (Guitar and band leader) and Loius McFarland (Drums)
Hedwig and her husband. Tess Worstell played Yitzhak and is A STAR. Please excuse my beard and 15 minute makeup job.
Last summer I got a request from my manager to self tape a scene as a Tammy Faye Bakker impersonater for the new Gillian Robespierre film Landline. I was so excited because I loved her first film Obvious Child and...Tammy Faye?! C'mon. Amazing. It may sound strange to those of you who don't know me but this is the type of part that is really in my wheelhouse. I watched as much Tammy Faye footage as I could find, booked the gig and got to film a scene with Jenny Slate (!), Abby Quinn and Jay Duplass.
Everyone on both sides of the camera was as cool and as nice as you would want them to be. My lines got changed (I think in part because I was having trouble navigating the cobblestone streets in enormous red patent leather heels) and wound up being less Tammy Faye Bakker and more "very drunk mans first time in drag." Gillian threw me some new lines and let me ad lib some stuff. It sounds silly because ultimitely it's a very small part but I felt so trusted and supported. It can be a bit intense coming on to a film or TV show as a day player...somtimes it can feel like you just need to hit your mark and spit out your lines but this one made me feel like I was part of the team. I had the most magical night of filming and I remember standing on that street thinking to myself "I don't want this to end."
Honestly, I have no idea what takes or how much you'll actually see of me in Landline but I'm still so proud to have been a part of it. The script (written by Robespierre and Elisabeth Holm) reminded me of the kind of 90's indie films that made me want to (and think maybe I actually could) be a film actor.
Landline comes to select theaters Friday, July 21st!
(Me with the fabulous, talented and super cool makeup artist Erica Whelan. Erica really gave my mug a good beat down. By the end I think I wound up with about 6 pairs of fake eyelashes glued on? When I wrapped for the night she painlessly got all those lashes off and gave me the dopest Korres face mask to take home "for being a good sport" but I think we both knew I loved every second of it. Thanks Erica!)
(Keep an eye out for this drunken, handsome woman during the Halloween Parade scene!)
Also I have to shout out my friends MaryAnne Piccolo (that's her wig, and top and weird sparkly socks) and Ryan Watt (He found me that shoulder pad jacket and an amazing/terrible red leather purse) at Royal Curiosity for helping me get this wild look together!
"The rumors are true. 2Scoops: The Legendary, Chart-Topping, Entirely Fictional 90's Girl Group have broken up...again. Although they are not on speaking terms, and embroiled in a vicious legal battle, they will perform as planned because the court has ruled that they are LEGALLY OBLIG8TED."
The latest installment of 2Scoops performed to a sold out audience at Joe's Pub on July 5th! My friend and comedy partner Aaron Fuksa and I had the best time putting this show together. It had all new material, video media by my genius friend Chris Ford at Glamsmash Productions, insane sequin outfits by Wendy Samland and featured guests, the wildly talented Ebony Blake and Vicky Modica! Also, Corey Glover, lead singer of Living Colour was in the audience and I GAGGED. If you missed this show we'll be back at Joe's Pub soon. I'll keep you posted.
